A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 411t.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 411t. (1) If a credit card or debit card is used for
2 payment in a consumer transaction, a person engaged in the
3 conduct of trade or commerce shall not issue or deliver a receipt
4 to the consumer that displays any part of the expiration date of
5 the card or more than the last 4 digits of the consumer's account
6 number.
7 (2) A person who violates subsection (1) is guilty of a
8 misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000.00.
9 (3) As used in this section, "trade or commerce" means that
10 term as defined in section 2 of the Michigan consumer protection
11 act, 1976 PA 331, MCL 445.902.
